Before You Book.
How much does a private wine consultation cost?
The first 30 minute consultation is free, and consultation time after that is $295 per hour. Personal Wine Advice is $99 and covers a taste preference review, your meal and occasion, your budget, three to five personalized recommendations with food pairing suggestions, a written summary, and one follow up question afterwards.
Do you sell the wine you recommend?
No. Best Wine For You is an independent advisory service and does not sell alcohol. There are no winery commissions and no sponsored recommendations. Wine purchasing, delivery, venue, travel, and other third party costs may be quoted separately depending on the experience.
Do I need to know anything about wine first?
No. Tell Guy what you are eating, what you enjoy, what you want to spend and who you are sharing it with. That is enough to start.
Can Guy review my restaurant wine list?
Yes. Send your current list through Rate My Wine List and our team will come back with initial observations and what a fuller review would involve. It is an initial review to see whether we are a good fit, not a full professional audit.
Do you work with businesses?
Yes. The Business Wine Review is the entry point for restaurants, hotels, event venues and corporate buyers. It covers a wine list and pairing review with up to ten recommended changes, or corporate gifting and client dinner recommendations, and comes back as a written plan.
How do I pay, and what happens after I book?
Fixed price services are paid by card at the time of booking, through Stripe's own secure checkout, so card details never touch this site. Our team then confirms the details by email and arranges a time with Guy. Services that are quoted individually go through the contact form instead of checkout.
What if I need more consultation time?
The first 30 minutes cost nothing. If a conversation needs longer, or you want to come back for more sessions, that time is booked at $295 per hour. It is always agreed with you first, so nothing is added to a bill you did not ask for.
What makes this different from asking a shop or reading reviews?
A shop recommends what it stocks and a score describes a bottle without knowing your table. This starts from your taste, your meal, your occasion and your budget, and ends with a short written list you can act on. Nothing is sold to you, so nothing is recommended because it needs shifting.
